Our Philosophy on Materials

Our Philosophy on Materials

At NUBES, the Earth is our ultimate source of inspiration. The life cycle of our materials plays a crucial role in our design process, and we are committed to challenging the reliance on plastic in packaging.

Our ongoing mission is to seek and develop packaging solutions that align with zero-waste principles. We carefully select materials that are naturally decomposable, easily recyclable, or can be endlessly reused, ensuring that our products not only enhance well-being but also respect the planet.

WRAPPING PAPER

Our handmade wrapping paper is produced by the Dai people in Mangtuan Village, located in Lincang, southwest Yunnan. This traditional papermaking method has been passed down for over 600 years, preserving its authenticity through five original processes and 11 steps—from cleaning and soaking bark, steaming and mashing pulp, to drying the final sheets. Known as a “living fossil” of the industry, this paper is more than just a packaging material; it represents centuries of craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

COTTON LINEN

To protect our smaller minerals and tools, we sometimes use fabric linen strips instead of plastic sheets or bubble wrap. These linen strips serve not only as a protective layer but also as a reflection of our commitment to minimizing plastic use. The fabric comes from the traditional Bai ethnic group’s tie-dyeing techniques, revealing the beauty of Yunnan’s artisanal heritage.

MAILER BOXES

Every element of our packaging is recyclable. From the kraft tube that protects each bottle to the mailer box made from a majority of recycled materials, our packaging aims to generate zero landfill waste. We ensure that your NUBES package is as sustainable as it is beautiful, contributing to a healthier planet for future generations.
